A Day in the Life of "Joe," a Middle-Class Republican
Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot
full of good clean drinking water *because some liberal fought for
minimum water quality standards.*
He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His
medications are safe to take *because some liberal fought to insure
their safety and work as advertised*.
All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical
plan *because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid
medical insurance*, now Joe gets it too.
He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon
is safe to eat *because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the
meat packing industry.
*
Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is
properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents
*because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting
on his body and how much it contained.
*
Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes
is clean *because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop
industries from polluting our air. *
He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to
work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation
fees. *You see, some liberal fought for affordable public
transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.*
Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals
benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation *because some liberal
union members fought and died for these working standards. *
Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want
his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker
compensation or unemployment check *because some liberal didn’t think he
should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.*
Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some
bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured *because some liberal wanted
to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking
system before the depression.*
Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his
farm home in the country.
He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in
the world *because some liberal fought for car safety standards. *
He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in
the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t
want to make rural loans. *
The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck
his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.*
(Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)
He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social
Security and his union pension *because some liberal made sure he could
take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to.
*After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.
He turns on a "Patriotic" radio talk show.
The host keeps saying that Liberals are bad and Conservatives are good.
He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against
every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.
Joe agrees, /*“We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our
lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take
care of themselves, just like I have”.*/ _________________ Fight organized crime............. re-elect no one! |

Because Republicans love dirty water, right?

Really? The Food and Drug Act was signed into law by Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican.

Many large non union companies offer health insurance to their workers. How can unions take credit for that?

See the above about the Pure Food and Drug Act. Signed into law by a REPUBLICAN.

The EPA was proposed by and signed into law by a REPUBLICAN.

The EPA was proposed by President Richard Nixon and began operation on December 2, 1970, when its establishment was passed by Congress, and signed into law by President Nixon

Yes. A liberal fought to subsidize rides for gangbangers and welfare recipients at the expense of hard working people who NEVER use public transportation.
Socialism at its finest. Without the subsidies from people who never use public transportation, public transportation would bankrupt itself.

I thought the narrative was that business was run by Republicans?

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) was signed into law by REPUBLICAN Richard Nixon.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_Safety_and_Health_Act
| Quote: |
The Occupational Safety and Health Act is the primary federal law which governs occupational health and safety in the private sector and federal government in the United States. It was enacted by Congress in 1970 and was signed by President Richard Nixon on December 29, 1970.[1] Its main goal is to ensure that employers provide employees with an environment free from recognized hazards, such as exposure to toxic chemicals, excessive noise levels, mechanical dangers, heat or cold stress, or unsanitary conditions.

Wisconsin originated the idea of unemployment insurance (UI) in the U.S. in 1932. |

Who was governor in Wisconsin in 1932? A REPUBLICAN by the name of Philip La Follette.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supplemental_Security_Income
| Quote: |
Supplemental Security Income (or SSI) is a monthly stipend provided to aged (legally deemed to be 65 or older), blind, or disabled persons based on need, paid by the United States Government.[1
The program was created in 1974.
The legislation creating the program was a result of President Nixon's effort to reform the nation's welfare programs.

Who was President in 1974? A REPUBLICAN.
Gawd you are dope!

OK. One for the Democrats.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was created in 1970 when Nixon, a REPUBLICAN, was President. It was given the power to force manufactures to fix safety defects in 1974 when a REPUBLICAN was President.

The Democrats' rural electrification RETARDED the use of renewable energy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_electrification
| Quote: |
Before 1936, a small but growing number of farms installed small wind-electric plants. These generally used a 40V DC generator to charge batteries in the barn or the basement of the farmhouse. This was enough to provide lighting, washing machines and some limited well-pumping or refrigeration. Wind-electric plants were used mostly on the great plains, which have usable winds on most days.
|
Imagine how prevalent alternative energy would be if Democrats didn't retard it with rural electrification.

Many large companies that offered pensions either went bankrupt or no longer offer them. Social security is nothing but a giant Ponzi scheme designed to fail under its own weight. The recent failure of the American auto industry is proof that defined benefit pension plans destroy industries.
Thank you, Democrats, for doing great harm to our economy with Ponzi schemes that bankrupt industries.
Democrats every year have opposed greater tax exempt limits to IRA contributions so people can save their OWN money for retirement.
Democrats support policies that destroy industries and prevent people from saving their own money for retirement.
Don't forget: Joe and his father would be able to retire much earlier if taxes weren't so high. Each of them probably paid tens of thousands of dollars in taxes over their working lives so the Democrats could give LAZY welfare recipients free cash to buy their votes.

The good ones like the FDA, NHTSA, SSI, and the sometimes good ones like the EPA were all put in force by Republicans.

Let's see. Joe works. Joe does take care of himself. How can you say the EPA or FDA are proof that Joe has someone else running his life?
I don't know of many Republicans who are opposed to food and drug purity laws or labeling. I don't know of many Republicans opposed to clean air and water, either.
Considering that very few inner-city Democrats get out to enjoy nature by fishing, camping, or hunting, it seems to me that Republicans would be the ones most likely to support such policies.
Republicans want people to have low taxes so they can save their OWN money for retirement. Democrats don't want people to save their own money so they can enact government programs that make people dependent so the DFL will always have control. |
